בעת ההיא נאם־יהוה אהיה לאלהים לכל משׁפחות ישׂראל והמה יהיו־לי לעם׃ כה אמר יהוה מצא חן במדבר עם שׂרידי חרב הלוך להרגיעו ישׂראל׃ מרחוק יהוה נראה לי ואהבת עולם אהבתיך על־כן משׁכתיך חסד׃ עוד אבנך ונבנית בתולת ישׂראל עוד תעדי תפיך ויצאת במחול משׂחקים׃ עוד תטעי כרמים בהרי שׁמרון נטעו נטעים וחללו׃ כי ישׁ־יום קראו נצרים בהר אפרים קומו ונעלה ציון אל־יהוה אלהינו׃ כי־כה אמר יהוה רנו ליעקב שׂמחה וצהלו בראשׁ הגוים השׁמיעו הללו ואמרו הושׁע יהוה את־עמך את שׁארית ישׂראל׃ הנני מביא אותם מארץ צפון וקבצתים מירכתי־ארץ בם עור ופסח הרה וילדת יחדו קהל גדול ישׁובו הנה׃ בבכי יבאו ובתחנונים אובילם אוליכם אל־נחלי מים בדרך ישׁר לא יכשׁלו בה כי־הייתי לישׂראל לאב ואפרים בכרי הוא׃ שׁמעו דבר־יהוה גוים והגידו באיים ממרחק ואמרו מזרה ישׂראל יקבצנו ושׁמרו כרעה עדרו׃ כי־פדה יהוה את־יעקב וגאלו מיד חזק ממנו׃ ובאו ורננו במרום־ציון ונהרו אל־טוב יהוה על־דגן ועל־תירשׁ ועל־יצהר ועל־בני־צאן ובקר והיתה נפשׁם כגן רוה ולא־יוסיפו לדאבה עוד׃ אז תשׂמח בתולה במחול ובחרים וזקנים יחדו והפכתי אבלם לשׂשׂון ונחמתים ושׂמחתים מיגונם׃ ורויתי נפשׁ הכהנים דשׁן ועמי את־טובי ישׂבעו נאם־יהוה׃ כה אמר יהוה קול ברמה נשׁמע נהי בכי תמרורים רחל מבכה על־בניה מאנה להנחם על־בניה כי איננו׃ כה אמר יהוה מנעי קולך מבכי ועיניך מדמעה כי ישׁ שׂכר לפעלתך נאם־יהוה ושׁבו מארץ אויב׃ וישׁ־תקוה לאחריתך נאם־יהוה ושׁבו בנים לגבולם׃ שׁמוע שׁמעתי אפרים מתנודד יסרתני ואוסר כעגל לא למד השׁיבני ואשׁובה כי אתה יהוה אלהי׃ כי־אחרי שׁובי נחמתי ואחרי הודעי ספקתי על־ירך בשׁתי וגם־נכלמתי כי נשׂאתי חרפת נעורי׃ הבן יקיר לי אפרים אם ילד שׁעשׁעים כי־מדי דברי בו זכר אזכרנו עוד על־כן המו מעי לו רחם ארחמנו נאם־יהוה׃ הציבי לך צינים שׂמי לך תמרורים שׁתי לבך למסלה דרך הלכתי שׁובי בתולת ישׂראל שׁבי אל־עריך אלה׃ עד־מתי תתחמקין הבת השׁובבה כי־ברא יהוה חדשׁה בארץ נקבה תסובב גבר׃ כה־אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישׂראל עוד יאמרו את־הדבר הזה בארץ יהודה ובעריו בשׁובי את־שׁבותם יברכך יהוה נוה־צדק הר הקדשׁ׃ וישׁבו בה יהודה וכל־עריו יחדו אכרים ונסעו בעדר׃ כי הרויתי נפשׁ עיפה וכל־נפשׁ דאבה מלאתי׃ על־זאת הקיצתי ואראה ושׁנתי ערבה לי׃ הנה ימים באים נאם־יהוה וזרעתי את־בית ישׂראל ואת־בית יהודה זרע אדם וזרע בהמה׃ והיה כאשׁר שׁקדתי עליהם לנתושׁ ולנתוץ ולהרס ולהאביד ולהרע כן אשׁקד עליהם לבנות ולנטוע נאם־יהוה׃ בימים ההם לא־יאמרו עוד אבות אכלו בסר ושׁני בנים תקהינה׃ כי אם־אישׁ בעונו ימות כל־האדם האכל הבסר תקהינה שׁניו׃ הנה ימים באים נאם־יהוה וכרתי את־בית ישׂראל ואת־בית יהודה ברית חדשׁה׃ לא כברית אשׁר כרתי את־אבותם ביום החזיקי בידם להוציאם מארץ מצרים אשׁר־המה הפרו את־בריתי ואנכי בעלתי בם נאם־יהוה׃ כי זאת הברית אשׁר אכרת את־בית ישׂראל אחרי הימים ההם נאם־יהוה נתתי את־תורתי בקרבם ועל־לבם אכתבנה והייתי להם לאלהים והמה יהיו־לי לעם׃ ולא ילמדו עוד אישׁ את־רעהו ואישׁ את־אחיו לאמר דעו את־יהוה כי־כולם ידעו אותי למקטנם ועד־גדולם נאם־יהוה כי אסלח לעונם ולחטאתם לא אזכר־עוד׃ כה אמר יהוה נתן שׁמשׁ לאור יומם חקת ירח וכוכבים לאור לילה רגע הים ויהמו גליו יהוה צבאות שׁמו׃ אם־ימשׁו החקים האלה מלפני נאם־יהוה גם זרע ישׂראל ישׁבתו מהיות גוי לפני כל־הימים׃ כה אמר יהוה אם־ימדו שׁמים מלמעלה ויחקרו מוסדי־ארץ למטה גם־אני אמאס בכל־זרע ישׂראל על־כל־אשׁר עשׂו נאם־יהוה׃ הנה ימים נאם־יהוה ונבנתה העיר ליהוה ממגדל חננאל שׁער הפנה׃ ויצא עוד קוה המדה נגדו על גבעת גרב ונסב געתה׃ וכל־העמק הפגרים והדשׁן וכל־השׁרמות עד־נחל קדרון עד־פנת שׁער הסוסים מזרחה קדשׁ ליהוה לא־ינתשׁ ולא־יהרס עוד לעולם׃

At the same time, says Yahweh, will I be of Elohim of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. Thus says Yahweh, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest. Yahweh has appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn you. Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel, you shall again be adorned with your tabrets, and shall go forth in the dances of them that make merry, you shall yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria, the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. Related a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise you, and let us go up to Zion unto Yahweh our Allah. Related thus says Yahweh, Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish you, praise you, and say, O Yahweh, save your people, the remnant of Israel. Behold, I will bring them from the North country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travails with child together: a great company shall return thither. They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn. Hear the word of Yahweh, O you nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. Related Yahweh has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of Yahweh, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says Yahweh. Thus says Yahweh, A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. Thus says Yahweh; Refrain your voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded, says Yahweh; and they shall come again from the land of the Enemy. And there is hope in your end, says Yahweh, that your children shall come again to their own border. I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; you have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn you me, and I shall be turned; for you art Yahweh my Allah, Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth. Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says Yahweh. Set you up waymarks, make you high heaps, set your heart toward the highway, even the path which you went: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these your cities. How long wilt you go about, O you backsliding daughter? for Yahweh has created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a Warrior, thus says Yahweh of hosts, the Allah of Israel, as yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; Yahweh bless you, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness. And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks. Related I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. Upon this I awoke, and beheld, and my sleep was sweet unto me. Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of Adam, and with the seed of beast. And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, says Yahweh. In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eats the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, says Yahweh, but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says Yahweh, I will put my Torah in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and will be of them of Elohim, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every sire his neighbor, and every sire his brother, saying, acquaint Yahweh, related they shall all acquaint me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says Yahweh, related I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Thus says Yahweh, which gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves thereof roar, Yahweh of hosts is his name, if those ordinances depart from before me, says Yahweh, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus says Yahweh, if heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says Yahweh. Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that the city shall be built to Yahweh from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner. And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath. And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto Yahweh; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
